What to Expect

Before the First Appointment

When scheduling your appointment, we will have a brief phone consultation to discuss your needs and determine if you are a good fit for this assessment or if a referral elsewhere would be more appropriate.

Note: I am currently only able to schedule for Thursday mornings at 9:00 AM.

First Appointment

In our first meeting I will conduct a diagnostic interview. The purpose of the interview is to get a full picture of what you are experiencing, how it is impacting your daily living, and if there are additional factors that may be contributing to your concerns.

You will then be asked to participate in an assortment of tests which will include an assessment of intellectual functioning, a computerized continuous performance test, and some pen-and-paper questionnaires.

This process generally takes 2 – 2.5 hours

Between Appointments

We will ask that a close family member or friend fill out and return a questionnaire about you (others can often see traits you may not notice in yourself). I will ask that this assessment be returned to me by mail. I will then write a comprehensive report on the results of the assessment and schedule a follow-up appointment.

This process typically takes 1 – 2 weeks

Final Appointment (optional)

During our final appointment I will provide you with your report and explain the results of the assessment. I will also answer any questions you may have and provide referrals as appropriate.

This appointment may last 30 minutes – 1 hour

PLEASE BE AWARE!

Participating in the assessment process does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD.  It is possible a different diagnosis will be more appropriate or that the assessment will be inconclusive.
